I go to a Jazz club at Dene Magna School. We play a lot of diffferent music, not just jazz and everyone really enjoys it!
Our teacher is called Miss Burt and we all meet in the school's music room every Tuesday lunchtime to practise our pieces. The pieces of music that we are practising at the moment are called Summer Time and an old piece of Victorian music, which is very fun to play.
If you do play the clarinet or any instrument I would recomend that you try to get into a music group in your area because it is really fun.
We have played at many different events for the school, such as every Christmas church service and at every achievments evening, on all these occasions everyone has enjoyed themselves a lot.

In Jazz Club I play part one, which is the main tune of the music and can often be very difficult .I did't start playing part one however, I have gradually worked my way up, as my playing got better. Next year I will be the only clarinet player in year 11 which will be quite scary because I will have to play part one all on my own with no help from the people that help me now but I am looking forward to it.

Another positive thing about playing in a band or a group of course is that if you go wrong or the notes just won't come out there is less pressure on you because you are not likely to be heard and there is probably someone playing with you.
Playing in front of the whole school can also be quite scary and I think the most nerve racking thing that I have done with Jazz club was when we preformed at our school's achievments evening.
There are lots of people that come to Jazz Club, so there are lot's of different instruments to help give the band it's wonderful sound. There are the violin, trumpet, saxaphone, flute and not forgetting the clarinet, players.
The school achievment evening is where students recieve awards for outstanding effort and commitment throughout the year. It was a very big event because the headmaster was there and all the parents of the students recieving awards and quite a lot of the teachers. I was very nervous as I said but manage to calm down and preform and it was great. I much prefer preforming in a group rather than on my own because all of the sounds come together and they sound beautiful and there is a real sence of team spirit.
With this attitude you really do get to know people well becasue they cover up your mistakes when you go wrong and you do the same for them. Obviously if you practise a lot you are not going to go wrong and you shouldn't really go wrong, but you will still feel the whole team spirit.
